ENDURANCE

Daily reflection

You need endurance to do the will of God and receive what he has promised.  “For, after just a brief moment, he who is to come shall come; he shall not delay. But my just one shall live by faith, and if he draws back I take no pleasure in him.” We are not among those who draw back and perish, but among those who have faith and will possess life.

Hebrews 10:36-39

Deepening Your Relationship with God

Bless the Lord

Bless the Lord

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all within me, the holy name of God.
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and never forget all God’s benefits.

It is the Lord who forgives all your sins,
who heals everyone of your ills,
who redeems your life from the grave,
who crowns you with love and compassion,
who fills your life with good things,
renewing your youth like an eagle’s.

Bless the Lord, all you angels of heaven,
mighty in power, fulfilling God’s word,
who heed the voice of God’s word.

Bless the Lord, all you hosts,
you servants, who do God’s will.
Bless the Lord, all you creatures,
in every place of God’s domain.
Bless the Lord, O my soul!

Psalm 103: 1-5, 20-22

In Presence of Angels

I thank you, Lord, with all my heart;
you have heard the words of my mouth.
In the presence of the angels I praise you.
I bow down toward your holy temple.

I give thanks to your name
for you have exalted over all
your name and your promise.
On the day I called, you answered me;
you increased the strength of my soul.

The Lord is high, yet looks on the lowly,
and the haughty God knows from afar.
You give me life though I walk amid affliction;
you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes.

With your right hand you save me;
the Lord will accomplish this for me.
O Lord, your merciful love is eternal;
discard not the work of your hands.

Psalm 138: 1-3, 6-8

How I Love Your Law

Prayer

O Lord, how I love your law:
my meditation all the day!
Your command makes me wiser than my foes,
for it is with me always.

I have more insight than all who teach me,
for I ponder your decrees.
I have gained more understanding than my elders,
for I keep your precepts.

I keep my feet from every evil path,
to obey your word.
I have not turned away from your decrees;
you yourself have taught me.

How sweet is your promise to my tongue,
more than honey in the mouth.
I gain understanding from your precepts,
and so I hate all false ways.

Psalm 119:97-104

MEDITATION

Padre Pio on meditation

One who never meditates, is like a person who never looks in the mirror; therefore, not knowing that they are untidy, they goes out looking disorderly. The person who meditates and directs their thoughts to God, Who is the mirror of of their soul, tries to know their faults, attempts to correct them, moderates their impulses, and puts their conscience in order.

– St. Padre Pio, Feast Day – September 23

LOVE IS…

Water lily, love in nature

Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, [love] is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth.  It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails.

– 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a

QUIET CONSCIENCE

daily refection at sunset

I can’t go to bed with a quiet conscience if during the day I’ve missed any chance, however slight, of preventing wrongdoing or helping to bring about some good.

– St. Maria Crocifissa di Rosa

Daily Prayer: PATIENCE and MEDITATION

Imagine yourself as having wings to fly

Have patience in persevering in the holy exercise of meditation, and be content to progress in slow steps until you have legs to run and wings with which to fly.

– St. Padre Pio

PRAYER LIFE

Personal prayer in daily life

To my words give ear, O Lord;
give heed to my sighs.
Attend to the sound of my cry,
my Sovereign and my God.

To you do I pray, O Lord.
In the morning you hear my voice;
in the morning I plead and watch before you.

Lead me, Lord, in your righteousness,
because of my foes;
make straight your way before me.

– Psalm 5: 2-4, 8

NO TIME TO LOSE

Volunteer and help the needy in Baltimore City

Many of the people who look forward to a long life put off doing good works, since they think that they will have plenty of time before they die. As for me, I prefer to be among those who consider that they have no time to lose if they wish to give God all the glory that they can before they die.
